Salaam / Hi,

I am Saliha, the therapist behind The Umé Therapist.
The name Umé comes from the Arabic word for mother - a symbol of sincerity, care, and guidance. I chose it because it reflects the intention I bring to every woman I work with: to hold space with the same honesty and compassion as a mother’s advice.

I know what it feels like to be lost in the dark. I’ve experienced severe depression, manic episodes, and moments when hope felt out of reach. When I began to heal, I turned to the wisdom of Islamic psychology - not just for myself, but to help other women who felt unseen, unsupported, or silenced.

The vision of The Umé Therapist is simple:

  • To ensure no woman feels alone in her struggles.

  • To guide and empower women through faith-based counselling and the Islamic sciences.

  • To break cultural taboos and myths surrounding mental health for Muslim women.

  • To remind every woman that her light has always been within - it just needs uncovering.

This is more than therapy. It’s a judgement-free, confidential space where faith meets empowerment, where wounds become wisdom, and where together we rebuild.

From one woman who has walked through the fire and risen again - to you. You are not alone, and your healing is possible.
